Decision-making problem

"Decision-making problems" means that there is no irreversibility at the current point, and it is difficult to judge based on the current status, so it doesn't matter which way you choose. What you should do is design it so that you can do it again, decide on measurement indicators in advance, and make a decision when you reach that point. That's what it means. I heard a good story from Mr. Fukatsu. There are two types of decision-making methods: those that require you to make a decision based on your own will, and those that are automatically decided. For example, whether to eat sushi or curry is a decision you make based on your own will, but how to make delicious curry has a theory, so you shouldn't do it your own way. It was very refreshing...!
Phyllis's model is not the truth. The truth was something that no one could know at that time. Therefore, the engineer strategically chose a near-term goal that would allow the project to move forward. This was a wise approach. If they had conducted a detailed analysis covering all possible situations regarding the lunar surface, not only the design of the probe but also the lunar landing plan itself would have been jeopardized. Orrin Nicks, who wrote the Surveyor program report, stated, "The lunar model used in the Surveyor design was created after considering the available theories and information. Fortunately, the person who created this model was not an engineer who was obsessed with the formation of scientific theories. As a result, the conditions required for the landing system were extremely precise." (Note 4) Phyllis's lunar model resolved most of the ambiguity and simplified the problems faced by the design team. It cannot be said that the problem became easy to solve, but at least it became solvable.
Even though situations may change along the way, it's important to put up a flag for the time being.
Have Backbone; Disagree and Commit
Leaders are obligated to respectfully challenge decisions when they disagree, even when doing so is uncomfortable or exhausting. Leaders have conviction and are tenacious. They do not compromise for the sake of social cohesion. Once a decision is determined, they commit wholly.
Once a decision has been made, follow through with it properly.
